Niðavellir Shipyard

The Nidavellir Shipyard is a large UCM Shipyard hidden far away from any planetary system.
After the scattering of humans after the first Scourge attack many ships used their ftl drives and made an random Foldspace jump just to get away. Many of this ships found themselves alone in the dark, to close to a star or a black hole and perished but some made it to an empty place in space. And that’s how the Nidavellir belt was discovered. A collection of large rocks, asteroids in different sizes and collection of dust and sand. Exactly how this place come to be, far from any sun, placed in between systems is not known. It is believed it was created after an extremely unlikely collision of two larger celestial body, with no stronger gravity pull in the vicinity this collection of minerals and rocks have held together by their own combined pull of each other. The scatter of large rocks and the natural background radioactivity have created a hiding place. After the survivors made contact with the now formed UCM the area have been put to good use.

Named after the Norse mythology Nidavellir, the world of the dwarves, for its rich mineral and metal resources. Perfectly for foundries and a large shipyard complex.

This is the place to produce ships...

Shaltari Tomahawk Grav Tank

More Shaltari for my ”pearl tribe”.
I should find a fitting name given to the by the humans.
The humans name the diffrent tribes or give them a code name after human tribes from their past. Im thinking on giving them a name of some tribe famous for diving after pearls, or fishing in coral reefs but Im not sure on what yet.

Here I got some Tomahawk grav tanks. I love the sleek profile, and the big gun. Painted in the same way as my previously aa tanks but with a little different color palette. They are a little brighter. The main barrel of the canon was given a reddish tone. Im not totally sure if I should have gone for green or yellow instead but it works with red. Maybe test another color further on this project.

Thanks for watching.

Dropzone Commander – Shaltari Kukri AA Grav-Tanks

Dropzone Commander – Shaltari Kukri AA Grav-Tanks

After some further experimenting I think I have found my paint scheme.
The “panels” are painted in orange/red warm colors to make a contrast to the cooler blue/purple that I have chosen as the main color. And all the lights and stuff will be painted green, another color I havnt used on the model yet.

The inspiration to this paint scheme is taken from deep-sea creatures, Jellyfish and the creatures from the movie The Abyss.

Wip – Shaltari

Work in progress pictures on my Shaltari from Dropzone Commander.

Last night I started to experiment with a paint scheme on my Shaltari. The original plan was to try to achieve a look that resembles a deep-sea creature or a jellyfish. It did not turn out exactly how I had envisioned them but still somewhere close to what I had originally planned.

This is how they look now(under crappy photo light…).
Im not sure how I should continue, but some silver is planned and the flat panels should be given an different color to make them stand out a little, maybe orange or yellow.

Any idea or tip is welcome.
Thanks for watching.

Shaltari, Dropzone Commander

Dropzone Commander from Hawk Wargames.

So I posted some pictures from Salute 2012 of this new game on my gaming clubs forum and the ball started rolling… The miniatures are spectacular and it’s a fresh breeze on the gaming heaven.
Some friend got each an starting army and have played some games at the club. The little I have seen so far looks promising.

But with a new game there are so many options, what team to start collecting and what color scheme to choose for them.
I ended with the Shaltari as no one had chosen them yet and I thought you could really go bananas with the painting on some aliens.

The plan is to paint the Shaltari to look like some deep-sea creature. So white with some blue/red/green is the plan. We will see how that turns out.

Enough with my babbling and to the pictures…
It just arrived today, my Shaltari force.
I got an large premium army and some blisters.

So here is a small unboxing with some pictures. More pictures later on when I have started to assembly some or have some painted.
